Chloe, a short dress with front ties
Printed black sets the ground, the ties hold the neckline and pull in as tight as the morning calls for. Chloe stays short, roomy on top, and follows the waist as soon as the belt comes into play. The movement comes from the fabric rather than the cut.
Printed modal, ties and belt
The fabric is a printed modal, smooth to the touch, with a drape that never breaks. The ties fasten the front. A belt is supplied and knots high or on the hip. The sleeves are smocked: an elastic gather holds them mid-arm before the fabric picks its volume back up further down.
How to wear it
Opaque tights, low-heeled boots and a cropped fine-knit jumper pulled over the dress with the ties left showing at the neck: the layering does itself. Another route is a black leather jacket with the belt knotted over the top and a silk square at the neck. The dress takes a long kimono just as happily in mid-season.
Measurements
Length 96 cm. Sleeves 49 cm before the smocking and 61 cm after it. Chest 53 cm, measured flat, garment laid out.
Care
Dry cleaning is what the house recommends for this piece. Between wears, a pass of steam releases the creases without flattening the fabric. Keep it on a wide hanger, away from direct light. Avoid a thin hanger, which ends up marking the shoulders.
