Shantung, embroidery and puff sleeves
The fabric is a shantung rayon with a faintly irregular surface that holds volume instead of collapsing. Delicate embroidery lifts the shirt collar, the long puff sleeves are gathered with smocking, and the matching belt comes with the dress.
Wearing it between seasons
Belted at the waist over a fine roll-neck, with opaque tights and square-heeled boots, it gets through autumn without effort. Or leave it loose under a long open coat, take the belt over the coat, and add flat boots. A cropped leather jacket breaks the polite side of the flowers. The belt is what makes it work: cinched high, it turns a straight line into a waist.
